75th Eleanor Roosevelt Anniversary Exhibit.

In my second meeting with Mark Lusby the curator of the Base One Europe museum the date for the exhibit had been set, and it would take place in the university (which i hadn't pictured, i originally thought to this point that it would take place in the museum) we discussed finer points of the design but i thik he thought the 3D would take less time that it had, or that once the exhibit was over we were finished with our projects, i quickly explained the situation, we would like concepts perhaps exhibited but nothing 3d would be ready to view.

Shortly after this meeting we were all CC'd in on an email thread discussing the universities involvement in the exhibit and what all should be expected on the night. discussions on the creative arts/design/games students exhibits of course came up and was asked what we could contribute and what they hoped would be shown sent us into panic modes.

I relayed this all to the boys and together we decided what was reasonable if we worked day and night until the exhibit. we collaborated on the best way all three versions could be demonstrated fairly and who would compile and edit them and take responsibility sending them. there was alot of back and forth communications on final designs and encouragement to complete each version.

You can find the exhibit here INSERT LINK.

You can see C.Friel had got the exterior dimensions done perfectly and was already ready to begin UV mapping,
I had an experimental exterior of the first floor composited onto conceptual footage and camera mapped to give it a little bit of depth.
P.Quinn had his interior to near perfection !

I believe three very different versions of the same project and building were exhibited well on the night. The were shown on a projector behind the keynote speakers and preforming arts pieces, then in the buffet room they were shown on a large screen in the corner, where both myself and C.Friel answered questions about the three projects for the better part of the night.

We were able to get plenty of information and even more references (on behance) from the Tower Museums WW2 exhibit pieces.
The young curator even allowed me to take as many references of the hand written journals and logbooks as i could, which just made my night.

Many folks there who had an extensive knowledge on the history of Magee and even Eleanor Roosevelt's visit had no idea there was once a bunker infront of the Hogwarts building.
I described our projects all as best as i could and their purposes and that the bunker cafe got its name from the bunker it was built on, whereas when i say bunker in terms of this project its actual name is 'the administration building' but it was named and introduced as the bunker project in the brief so i just kept calling it that, even now. this confused and annoyed Malachy and mark during discussions about the project so i tried to say administration building as often as i could.

The evening over all was a massive success for everyone involved, the only downside i can write home about is that Mark and Malachy and the local news papers all decided to take candid photos while i was enthusiastically discussing our projects with the showreel playing behind me on a large screen, meaning i was half blinking or awkwardly talking in this photos that are now all over twitter and facebook. oops !

I think all three students including myself are proud of how quickly we came up with presentable material for an audience that doesn't know a single iota about our brief or our concepts.
They were far from finished products but well received so job well done i think.

Just shows though, it doesn't matter how on schedule you are or how ontop of things you feel in a project, one slight hiccup or sudden deadline can get the stress mode on and require all nighters at any point, we were all at different stages and all experienced this so no one had it any handier than the others. I think after this weekend rush before the exhibit brought our group together more than we were, from that weekend until the hand in date it was productive constant case of back and forth as opposed to the early odd awkward question and answer. I was very pleased with all the outcomes of the exhibit, even if all i exhibited was a conceptual piece.
